Gary Duncan is Director for Western Colorado's Smart Shelter Network....a research, advocacy and educational institution in natural habitats, native lifestyle and global peace. His academic background in mathematics and physics is from the University of Colorado-Boulder, in architecture at the University of California-Berkeley, and in creative writing at UCLA. He is founder for the Telluride Writer's Guild and the Telluride Bluegrass Academy and Workshop Series, as well as Smart Shelter.

He is co-author of "Fives Seeds on a Changing Wind" (poetry), author of "The Telluride Bedtime Storybook" (vignettes) and several hundred articles on sustainability.
