Overview

Wind, Solar, Geothermal, Hydro...The march toward Renewable Energy leading us to a more intelligent future free of coal-fired, alternating current, centralized production, long-distance distribution electrical energy sourcing has made dramatic strides in the past 30 years...but lacks as yet a threshold to place it in the category of "impressive".

There may be an ingredient missing...the seed catalyst, which, when added to an already complex goo...suddenly crystallizes it into the alchemist's dream.

Buckminster Fuller's concept of Synergy predicts this. The witness of myriad solutions to knotty problems elsewhere in sustainable lifestyle research and technology breakthroughs have lead (by process of elimination, if not intelligent intent) to reliance on Bucky's dilemma as the touchstone to lasting solutions.

Renewable Energy is probably no exception...and the solution may not lie in the attention toward resource preservation and conservation...but in the realm of human health.

How can this be???

Adding the Criterion of Health

When we entered the New Millennium we crossed a subtle, but increasingly obvious, threshold in medical technology. We exited the science of biochemistry and entered that of bio-energetics.

There have been many subtle, but graphic, pointers in the past 30 years that this kind of a change was afoot...beginning with the Nobel nominations for the two classic bio-energetic texts by Dr. Robert O. Becker (The Body Electric and Cross Currents).

Concomitant with these and myriad other research works has been a technological newcomer to the world of Physics (Bio-Physics)...which removes the paradigm of chemistry through which we spent the past century trying to view human health and anatomy....and cuts to the chase on an energetic basis, examining the direct links between the glue of the physical universe (electromagnetic fields) and human physiology.

Coincident with this escallation...not to mention the electrification of the human living environment to a dramatic level never before seen...has been an increasingly desecretized issue of debate among both professional physicians and their patients regarding the effectiveness of the chemical/pharmaceutical approach to human health, leading to the currently stunning statistic (as reported by one regional Emergency Room Physician) that "three out of four severe health cases presenting at our facilities are suffering from maladies our pharmaceutical training cannot diagnose."

It may very well be, just as the Chinese medical community has long maintained, that western medicine is missing an entire human metabolic system. It would not be surprising to find that that system is based in the new realm of Bio-Physics, supersedes chemistry as the basic driving force of our bodies and is intimately tied to Renewable Energy Policy and possesses the power to successfully diagnose and remediate a good portion of the 75% of current medical mysteries....much of which is attainable through simple identification, removal, changes of sources and simplification.

If, indeed, Bio-Energetics holds the stage for the coming century's medical technology, it follows quickly that decontamination of the human living environment from electromagnetic field radiation affecting and causative to these health problems cannot be ignored as a primary priority in our strategy for future electrical energy development.

Not only that, but such procedure takes us not into new territory in terms of what we can do, but ironically...back to where renewable energy started...with the recommendations and stratagem of the earliest Photo Voltaic Solar practitioners....but with a completely different set of reasons....and the main one of those is human health.

 

The Evidence

The last 30 years of the twentieth century witnessed an escalation of (comparatively) new immunological and allergenic patterns never before seen in human medical history.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, multiple-sclerosis, ADD, memory loss, brain fog, dermatitis, respiratory impairment...all came to be recognized by the chemically based medical community as often having causes originating from over-exposure to manufactured petroleum-based chemical compounds which our bodies had never seen and could no longer tolerate...often ending in cases of complete debilitation and many deaths.

No one, however, has ever successfully explained the metabolic mechanism of these Advanced Sensitizations.

Toward the end of the century (actually beginning in the 1960's in Germany) there came to be an increasingly recognized similar (and often overlapping) Advanced Sensitization Phenomenon associated with over-exposure to electro-magnetic field radiation....something our modern lifestyle is certainly not found to be lacking (power lines, residential wiring, computers, video monitors, cell phones, wifi, household appliances and cars...just to start the list).

We now see even regional physicians recognizing and certifying Electro-Magnetic Field Sensitization as legitimate medical diagnosis...often to the extent of debilitation.

It has long been the subtle contention of nearly all victims and practitioners alike that the basis of these sensitizations and escalating reaction levels was some form of deficient immunology, contamination, weakening of systems, unhealthy diets, etc...in short...those who suffered were certainly the weak ones in our demography.

A year ago, a new light dawned and a divergent theory of cause and effect took hold. In a regional examination of over 100 known and verified Advanced Allergenic Cases (dealing with both chemical and energetic anomalies) it was discovered that 100% of those individuals, when inquired with no advanced information or warning, all replied with startling regularity that (prior to thresholding into the Advanced Reaction States) "I was the one who never got sick."

100%....no deviation...correlation unheard of in any demographic examination. Something is going on here...something not previously understood and certainly not utilized.

The conclusion for this research is...we are not the weak or damaged immune systems in the culture...we are the strongest and most sophisticated ones.

Now that could be a fairly dangerous place to go...unless....unless...unless it's right. In that case, not to go there is to invite certain disaster...and with a disaster like emergency room diagnostics failing to identify 3 out of 4 case problems...a disaster is what it would seem we are in.

If the strongest and most sophisticated of our immune/allergenic systems are all reacting simultaneously, that could well be an indicator that the problem is not in human resistance, but with the deterioration of the environment.

Furthermore (and for evidences too numerous to pursue here), though the chemical contamination of the environment is dramatic enough...it is not the primary cause of concern. That cause is Electro-Magnetic field radiation proliferation. Furthermore, it is rapidly becoming evident that it is indeed EMF origins that explain and are responsible for the chemical hyper sensitization itself. In fact, this phenomenon can now be induced...that is, we can create chemical hyper sensitization by over exposure to fields.

Just like Buckey Fuller said, right at the time when all seems maddeningly complex and impossible...adding one more complication will not only produce the synergetic solution...but it will render the entire stage beautifully simple and benign.

So it is with alternating current electrical generation and its adverse health effects.

The evidence that this is indeed the mechanism causing so much dilemma, but is also remediated by a change in electrical sourcing, though limited, is solid and available regionally, now to an extent not deniable by any other technological analysis.

Alternating Current Electro-Magnetic Field Radiation produces extensive health effects explained consistently and simply measured with the addition of the new Bio-Physics research substantiating an additional metabolism in human anatomy based on energetics. The solution, across the emf frequency spectrum (from powelines to cell phones) is avoidance. In the realm of conventional electrical energy generation and use for residential, educational, business and recreational uses...it means conversion to Direct Current sourcing. This can be accomplished in sequential stages...and is ironically what the early PV providers tried to get us to do.

The Off-Grid PV Irony

We now have, in Western Colorado, thousands of off-grid Solar Electric (Photovoltaic) installations in homes, businesses, highway signage, stock watering pumps, electric fences, etc.

When the solar revolution started 30 years ago...the first professional providers...Karry Kalarney, Johnny Weis, Scott Ely...told us that the originated Direct Current electricity produced by solar panels should be left that way. If you're going to change anything, change your appliances and lighting to those which run on DC.

Consumerism and convenience had a different say and by necessity of consumer pressure and sales, inverters were invented to convert DC power to Alternating Current patterns making our standard fixtures and appliances usable on an off-grid system.

In the past 5 years, it has become common knowledge among the EMF sensitized populace of the region that, although common alternating current sources are problematical enough in causing allergenic reactions...the PV systems with inverters are on the order of 4 times worse. How can this be???

The reasons appear to be several. Alternating Current wave patterns are problematical definitely to those with EMF Sensitization and now appear to have some level of adverse effects on any human metabolic system.

The problem with PV inverters is that they do not produce the smooth sinusoidal wave form of AC (already identified as problematical) but approximate the wave in jigsaw digital saw patterns, which may be jarringly agitating in addition to the positive and negative fluctuations of AC.

In addition, many stray emf frequencies are generated by the inverters and those are conducted into living environments along with the standard 60 cycle power, producing a "dirty" power source which can dramatically escalate sensitization phenomenon.

Ironically, not only are the Off-grid pv sources dramatically more health affecting to hypersensitives, but their coupling with Grid-Tied systems spreads the stray and block form frequencies and patters out onto the grid, escalating reaction effects to anyone else connected to grid power in the region.

Coupling inverter PV systems with houses constructed with metal roofs pushes the phenomenon over the edge with hypersensitives. The emf fields, already a problem, are picked up whenever wiring or appliances come close to metal roof sheathing and inductively spread the contamination in "Sheet Fields" (which are dramatically higher in effect) throughout the structure. This is a particular concern when sleeping areas are located directly under metal roofs.

But the solution is much cheaper...and dramatically simple. And you can test it for free before you jump off the EMF cliff.

The Solutions:

Remote Location

It was discovered long ago, in launching Smart Shelter's Land Steward Program....which intentionally places advanced cases of environmental sensitization in clean, remote locations...that not only can the human advanced immunology reset to normal with isolation from urban chemical pollution, but an equally dramatic health effect is experienced by elimination of any Alternating Current electrical sources.

These are not theories. Smart Shelter has a well developed program complete with technological solutions currently in practice with several Land Stewards who have turned severe allergenic reactions to both chemicals and emf around and consequently lead comfortable, productive lives because of these actions....as long as they stay free of AC fields.

This level of (extreme) isolation from environmental contamination is widely known in the hyper allergenic community to be effective...though it is extreme in terms of the losses and changes and severity of circumstances it necessitates.

Evidence of complete elimination of chemical sources without remediation of AC electrical contamination have been consistent failures. When the living environment is completely sourced from only DC (we use salvaged dc electrical power from automobiles) and all equipment is converted to dc sourcing (which can be done for less than $500 at Walmart)...all allergenics...emf and chemical ....rescind.

Micro Habitats which are completely refitted old, outgassed small recreational vehicles (less than 120 sq ft) incorporate passive solar design (reorientable with seasons because of their mobility), water catchment, super insulation as well as salvaged dc power sourcing and non-toxic materials.

They base minimalist lifestyles-also a criterion of the Land Steward Program...something few will attain, though many would espouse.

AC tools, equipment, communication media are not altogether eliminated, but if needed are supplied by small, local inverters which are only powered during operation...the rest of the time they are safely left asleep.

If you really want to accurately diagnoses your reactivity of EMF radiation, live in one of these for 2 weeks, and then reintroduce AC sources to your life.

Micro Spaces

Barring quitting your job, selling all possessions, moving to the Moab Desert, weathering 5 degrees below zeron-70 mile per hour winds with an rv skin between you and reality and incurring the wrath and disdain of your family and friendls....but still at least peripherally concerned about these issues...let us propose the following solution:

Turn a small portion of your existing home into a relatively EMF quiet space.

Several projects are underway regionally identifying rooms in conventional homes which are relatively low in EMF radiation. The electrical service to those homes is shut off. Measurements confirm the relative absence of fields. The rooms are then fitted for sleeping (that's a third of your life), a DC battery is provided for source and 12 volt dc lighting, appliances, etc are purchased to restore needed or desired amenities.

(Bear in mind here that on a daily basis, the author watches dvds, runs a laptop computer, works with tools, enjoys ample lighting...all with DC power...the rv supply section at Walmart can produce some quite interesting alternatives that don't necessitate monastic living for the field free individual)

You can try this yourself...shut of the power, use a flashlight, a battery clock and a bed for two weeks...then turn the power back on and try sleeping. If you have an issue, the power switch will clarify it for you.

Sources for a Micro Space in an existing house may be deep cycle batteries stacked in an automobile which is plugged into the house (like the real Micros), a DC battery in the house charged with a battery charger (kept at a safe distance...they are high field AC sources)..or if you want to get really invested in renewable energy...Start building solar PV panel arrays, with the idea that as time and your experience and support for DC living grow, more and more of your home can be converted to DC, disabling the AC and accomplished by adding panels in the future....a ramp up to renewables at a pace you can afford.

This is an excellent stair step method for both renewable energy and health conversion reasons.

Generation and Distribution

In the meantime...and this may well be the real crux of direction change in our renewable energy development...what do we do with our AC habits and this incredible monster of a grid?

Bear in mind, that the conclusions added here, have deep consequences for renewable energy directions and developments for the future. This is the juncture where those effects take place and the critical criterion is not the renewability (though certainly that is of tantamount importance) but in the health effects.

Here's why...and this may well turn out to be the real balancing/turning point of renewable energy conversion. Wind farms, inverter-based/grid-tied PV systems, hydroelectric generation plants and geothermal generators...all produce Alternating Current Power. This is the power source behind much of the health effect we see today.

It is reality that this is not going to quickly go away, even if there was consensus that it should...which there will not be...maybe for another 100 years.

The health deterrent effect of AC power, is, however, critical in the paradigm development for our renewable energy plans and development efforts.

If this theory is right (and, of course, I almost always am)...then what we should see (in recognition of Fuller's Synergy principle) is:

(a) Without the inclusion of AC Energy Health Issues as a primary concern in our Renewable Energy Development Plan, none of our plans will really work.

(b) If we include energetic health (which means DC power) with any of our plans...they all will work.

We'll have a look at where this should all end up in moment...but that's some time down the road. What we need right now is what we can begin to do today...and that is this:

(1). There will always, and probably in escalating numbers, be those sensitized to an extent that only remote/off grid lifestyle can restore to health, comfort and viability. These people need to be venerated as examples, not discounted as whackos or weaklings. The planet is indeed trying to tell us something and the Advanced Allergenic Cases are its voice...listen, watch yourself for signs and be ware.

(2) Any, even frivolously concerned or curios individual, certainly those with suspected syndromes indicating EMF as possible causes (sleep disturbance, exhausion, allergenics, headaches, fibromyalgia, prolonged pain, dermatitis, addictions, emf source avoidance intuitions) can isolate and convert their own Micro Spaces and inhabit them on trial basis without disturbing the rest of their lives.

(3) The eventual expansion of conventional home Micro Spaces is an excellent stair step to conversion to DC living spaces and PV off-grid sourcing (warning here-avoid Grid Tied Systems)

(4) The eventual large scale conversion/ construction of human dwelling systems to DC sourcing can be accomplished using the existing AC generation and grid system...simply converting the power sources delivered to the location to DC before use in a human domicile. This leaves the currently honorable work toward AC based renewables (wind, solar, hydro, etc) free to continue.

(5) In the long run, we need to be directed toward a complete system change to distributed DC generation and a dismantling of the grid and generation sources. The military security advantages, reduction in public and private land impacts (from power lines...not to mention health issues), economy, etc all indicate that this is the direction to head.

An idealistic and non-attainable goal??? In my own lifetime I have watched every single railroad servicing my homeland (Western Colorado)...with the exception of the Grand Junction to Denver rail...bankrupted, decommissioned, dismantled, sold for scrap and turned into bike paths. This scenario...construction to conversion happened in less than 100 years. We will see the day of no coal power plants and no power lines...anywhere. If intelligence and environmental ethic do not accomplish this...a dramatic escalation in advanced allergenic reaction to AC fields will.

Let me tell you, and I can reference you to any number of other Advanced Allergenics for confirmation, that the inconveniences and theories about renewable energy conversion may get the attention of the most intelligent and competent of us...but escalation into these hyper-allergenic states will produce a level of protracted pain (24 hours per day...for years on end until you live field free) that is guaranteed to produce a level of motivation quite beyond arguments of cost and convenience.

(I hold a personal belief, that we are not placed in these situations by accident or without reason).

The End Goal

It will not come to be that we live free of the health compromises, addictions and impacts of wifi, cell phones, AC power, and dirty sources until the western medical community completely integrates the field of Bio-Energetics into our understanding of human anatomy. The irony is that this integration already exists in eastern cultures and is rapidly being integrated in places like Sweden-whose prime minister is allergenically reactive to emf to an extent allowing here to locate a cell phone in a purse when it walks into her office. Her job prior to this one was President of the World Health Organization, where she banned cell phones in her office building. Sweden is now building the world's first community for EMF hypersensitives outside of Stockholm.

Sweden's community goal, the paradigm used in the Smart Shelter ADI Land Steward Program, the consistently reiterated dictum of every accurately diagnosed and knowledgeable hypersensitive is that we will come to live free of alternating current electromagnetic fields. The reason is simple...they are the governing metabolic system that operates our entire physiology and contaminating that is to invite disaster.

Disaster is what we now have. Mothers are rioting in Europe as we speak to remove wifi from their children's schools...as consumers become increasingly wiser to the corruption and dismantling of health protections and care afforded by contaminated government. Summary

Ironically...where we need to go is exactly where those early solar/photovoltaic installers who have dedicated now a lifetime to renewable energy warned us to go 30 years ago...but for a then unseen reason: off-grid, energy independent, integrated design, dc power sources and all interior dc lighting, appliances and equipment.

It's more efficient, its cheaper, its easier to maintain....but what they couldn't see then...what is so graphically obvious now...is that health effects...unseen by a lagging medical industry completely missing an entire human metabolic system...are now construing to dictate that either we do what Karry, Johnny and Scott told us to do then or things are going to get graphically dismaying, expensive, painful and lethal.

I live on a daily basis (as do 500 other known EI's in Western Colorado) with every single one of those motivators (including an undeniably shortened life span).

Whether you will listen to us now and act is, of course, completely up to you.
