The Aeolani were born in an era of desperation and not by intent.
Long before we knew of the reasoning nature of genetics and could identify and communicate with the force of evolution, a change began.
It was an era when the benefits of industry became insanity and the headiness of chemistry spilled into an obsession with self-destruction destruction.
In the handful of decades that spanned the better part of a century, just at the dawn of the New Millennium, in disparate parts and quite alone from each other, a strange and dismaying collapse began, primarily in the systems of the most intelligent of that old species ....among their most sensitive and evolved, especially the artists and ones of highest integrity.
Their immune systems collapsed, sometimes overnight and with bizarre and debilitating results. Strange eruptions appeared on their skin. Suddenly they couldn't breathe. Their memory and reasoning left them dazed, destitute, helpless and confused. Foods they had eaten all their lives became their enemies. Their joints and muscles ached whenever they came in contact with the invisible forces of the old electrical devices that used the primitive power forms we have since learned to avoid.
One by one, they sickened and withered. Many died without knowing what or why. That primitive medical form based on chemicals and bizarre machines that sucked anything metal into them were helpless to explain what or why. The early Aeolani were branded as lunatics, given mind-numbing chemicals and sent back to their toxic environments to die. Then they were ostracized under the corrupt administration of the man named after small trees who had big ears and hated everything not unlike the one who knew nothing, hated trees and greased his hair back into archaic forms.
The ones who survived had to leave their homes because their chemical glues and plastic interiors made them increasingly sick. They came to live abandoned, alone, desperate, often in squalor or primitive structures far from the bulging and polluted population centers that spiraled continually into industrial clamor and wholesale destruction of the divine abundance of nature.
Many lived on the land, seeking out the only remnant environment where they could breathe and be at peace. Some tried to stay and cope. Their destinies were horrible.
No one then knew why all this was happening, though we do today. For a century, every possible warning was given that the obsession with growth, and the widening departure between the chemical/pollution soup they soaked themselves in trying to gain security and the eons of the nature that had evolved them were approaching a widening gorge into which they would fall to abysmal depths if they failed to check it and to honor the structure of their heritage and the intricacy and wisdom of the nature that evolved them and their species form.
The obsession with growth, consumption, accumulation, domination over the Gia Chi and even the wisdom of the Ancient One became mania. Wars were fought. Forests were leveled. Even the atmosphere of the entire planet which supported their fragile foothold on survival was polluted to the point of purple clouds that leached over their population centers and demonic red/brown sunsets that lowered the stench of petroleum spawn gouged from its interment beneath the mantle of stone over their homes and choked their children with asthma and pneumonia.
Their industrial mania sickened and they manufactured huge machines that filled the air with the thunder of clanking metal and tortured stone with which they created the giant malls in vain hopes of creating their own meccas. These are the same malls that we now, centuries later have commemorated into parkways here and there with signage placed among their twisted ruins as archaeological explanation of the holocaust and collapse that ensued.
The Aeolani were destitute then, even without a name, an identity or a reason ...long before their purpose and destiny would become known.
Some fortunate few began to assemble a nomadic existence and the first bare and primitive Micro-Habitats that today are their hallmarks and the syllabus designs for the way we find and build the homes that give us a saner life without the ransacking of the environment we resonate with and the one that gives us life and hope.
They were a generation of lost and ransacked souls. They were the harbingers of the New Millennium. They became the mutations necessary after their species ignored for a century the obvious and repeated warnings that they were destroying the planet and the heritage in their own evolution that indeed was the key to their own evolution itself.
The Aeolani were the first to be forced into sanity and out of the chemical/industrial insanity. They were the ones who were so sickened by those travesties and spiritual depravity that they awoke with no alternative but to find a saner way to live and to solve the problems of integrating the progress of human industry into the vast and intricate biosphere whose wisdom and knowledge so vastly overwhelmed and outstripped their own as to make itself invisible to their arrogance and ignorance.
One by one, those early pioneers, forced into nomadic lifestyled in mobile structures and primitive means found each other and began to share their hope, their discoveries, their maladies, their insights and their inherent love of the nature that created them.
They were often despised and attacked as primitive "Gypsies" by the lower life forms employed to enforce the strictness of the feudal overlords that drove the insanity of conformity, overwork and mindless obedience to the consumption mantra.
They learned the techniques of Environmental Warfare from the revolutionaries of their days who had successfully repelled or defeated the imperialistic dominators. They learned to be invisible and to disappear. They learned to attack and destroy without detection when necessary.
These were the first pioneers of our era we are so fortunate to enjoy today...a millennium of peace and contentment ....one of harmony with the impossible manifestation of the imagination and creative zeal of the Ancient One at the center of all space and with the Gia Chi which is the breathing heart of the planet He created. She gives us the volcanic warmth of the Earth's core in the bubbling hot springs we now revere and preserve. From Her sprout the impossible arrays of forests and deserts that never stop and constantly grow.
They were the first to turn from the insanity of selfishness and domination. They were the first to recognize that Ignorance is always the partner of Arrogance ...and that those two are a deadly combination to creating misery and destruction.
It is left only to our imaginations to think of what the first Aeolani experienced ....their fears, the terror of the unknown, the unexplainability of the allergies and debilitation that visited them apparently without reason and ostensibly out of nowhere. It must have been a challenge of trust beyond few others for them to come to see their elimination from the clamor and glut as a gift and the harbinger of a New Millennium, born out of hope and belief in the beauty of the nature that nurtured and birthed them.
It would not have happened that the changes that were needed would have come about had they not been driven out of the maddening mainstream and sickened to the point that they had no other places to go until they hammered out the new lifestyle and the new ethic that has given us the guidance to recreate humanity into its era of peace and joy that are so rich and filled with love ...the one that has now lasted ten centuries ...the origin of the New Millennium in which we live today.
